No ordinary Saturday
Saturday, October 27, 2012

What happened today was no ordinary Saturday…well, in my life. Living while studying in Singapore sure did give me some experience as a independent kid. So I did experience something different, you know when people say, “Expect the Unexpected”? I’d say it was something like that.

Ok so here’s the thing, I won’t be pointing out any names as I might get into so much trouble.

This morning was too ordinary to be true; woke up at around 9, had my breakfast, did my laundry and so on….so I met up with a few friends at orchard. TO EAT THE LOVELY CRISPY CHICKEN at “BONCHON’s”, which I would say is the BEST chicken I have eaten so far in my life. So I met up with 4 people, let’s call them girl, guy, lady and dude(btw, lady isn’t old, kinda our batch too but I just didn’t know what to call her).

Just so you can catch up dude had feelings for lady, lady knows but wouldn’t accept him even when they hang out a lot, even in the middle of the night.

However when we got to ION orchard….they weren’t hungry yet, so we decided to walk around. For some reason dude was kinda having a world of his own and he was always walking wayyyyy ahead of us.

A while later he had to leave, obviously there was something going on which I wasn’t sure about cause at first I heard it had something to do with his mom, so he left without saying much. Then a while later lady had to leave as well but her reason was acceptable cause there had been a recent accident. Ended up that girl, guy and I were the few left to eat at Bonchons.

While eating our meal, we found out that dude actually went drinking alone. Well of course, we went to find him after eating and found he was in this Irish Pub in Clarky.

When we got to dude, he ordered 4 bottles of Hamilton’s beer (not sure of the name tough….I just know it as beer) and he was already drunk by the time we got there. I was the furthest to sit from him cause my friends were worried about what dude might do, which was sweet…considering the fact that I have never faced a drunk person and that I was the youngest among them. Then it all started happening like in the movies; unconscious and the laughable type…gladly dude wasn’t the laughable type. The first thing I asked him, “Dude, you okay?” cause I really didn’t know what to do to actually try to make him feel better!! And of course he lied, “Yeah.” And continued drinking.

He was sensitive about his love life and he still had feelings for lady that I think he got rejected.

A while after girl and guy tried to comfort him in speaking Chinese, he faced me, “Hi. Did you ever get rejected?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

I was like, “Uhmm…I don’t know.”

He then mumbled a few things I didn’t really understand but the next thing I heard he clearly said was, “What’s your criteria in a man?”

I answered that I don’t really know what my criteria’s are yet. But the thing is he was kinda forcing me to answer what I look for in a man. I was like looking at girl and guy….girl told me to just answer him while guy didn’t say much….I was afraid that what I would say might actually make him feel worse so I just looked out the window and said the things that girls commonly look for in a guy, “kindhearted, loving with a sense of humour…”

He interrupted, “You would look for a guy who is handsome and rich right?”

Then I said, “ not necessary cause I think that’s not whats important”….but I don’t think he heard those things properly.

Dude then asked, “Well what you would look for is a man who has a house and a car(or was it money?) right?”

Well when those words, “man who has a house” came to me, in my mind it was just the opposite of those living in the streets, I didn’t really pay attention to the other words so I answered, “I think so.” BUT THAT WAS MY BIG MISTAKE!

“I guess that what girls these days are really looking for.”

And that’s when I realized he was talking about rich men independently living in their own house. I was gonna say more to change his mindset but he started talking about his goal.

“I want to become a CEO of my own company and be successful by the age of 35. That way I’m rich, I can own a house and have anything I want. A lot of girls would like me, it wouldn’t be a problem and wouldn’t be so hard.”

There it was, straight out of his own words. After that, I really stopped talking. He was moving unconsciously that girl and guy were having a hard time to handle.

Oh and there was one part where he went to the slightly elevated stage, and said, “I’m not drunk at all!” then he had a hard time going back to his seat, which really made us laugh…..

Guy called dude’s mom when we felt like it was time for him to get home, so we took a cab while getting the directions. We got to Ang Mo Kio Ave. 2, and we were surprised to see that he actually had a 3 storey huge house!!

The kind mom waited outside and gave us S$50 which we spent for dinner or as girl calls it, “supper”. We really did have fun talking about the other things dude was saying while he was drunk and other things related and non-related such as school. So we spent it with a burger and a few desserts which we separated among us and then after we went walking around till we got bored. Letting me end up here at home, getting my hair dried while updating this blog. Actually now that it just ended, my hair is finally dry and that I am able to sleep for tomorrow’s mass and red bulls flugtag event that I will have to attend at Sentosa tomorrow. So again PEACE OUT!!!!
